Wizard of Words 2020-2021

John F. Kennedy School is pleased to announce that the PTSO Funded Wizard of Words is coming in April 2021 this year.  Wizard of Words is a program designed to provide our students with the opportunity to meet and intimately converse with award-winning authors and illustrators.  The children have the chance to hear directly from the authors about what inspires them to write; where they get their ideas for books; how they go about writing a book; and what it takes to get a book published.  And, there’s always time for Q&A!!

This year we are thrilled to welcome two authors: Chris Gall for Pre-k through 1st grade students and Kevin O’Malley for 2nd through 4th grade students.  Chris Gall will be meeting virtually with our younger John F. Kennedy students on Wednesday, April 14th. Kevin O’Malley will be meeting virtually with our older students on Thursday, April 15th.  Chris Gall, an award-winning illustrator has authored and illustrated more than a dozen books for children, including the Dinotrux series which has over half a million copies in print, and has spawned a Dreamworks produced, Netflix television series by the same name. For more information on Chris and his book list, please visit his website at http://www.chrisgall.com/

Kevin O’Malley is the author/illustrator of over 85 books.  For more information on Kevin and his book list, please visit his website at http://www.booksbyomalley.com/

The PTSO is sponsoring a sale of Chris and Kevin’s books.  You can provide your child with a lasting memory of this special event by purchasing one or more books and having the book(s) personalized for your child by Chris Gall and/or Kevin O’Malley.  Descriptions of the books being offered are provided below.
